Did you know you can now recycle the plastic pouches, sachets and wrapping from your Vitaflo products?

Here at Vitaflo, we’ve set ourselves the goal of ensuring that 100% of our packaging is reusable or recyclable by the end of 2025 so we’re delighted to share news of a new initiative which is making recycling even easier.

Most of us are now familiar with the kerbside collections of recyclable waste undertaken by our local authorities. “Sorting the recycling” has become second nature and part of the daily routine and, let’s face it, giving our reusable packaging a second life by recycling is pretty cool! Paper, cardboard, glass and hard plastics, such as bottles and trays, are all commonly accepted among recycling collections across the UK.

But when it comes to the plastic pouches, sachets and bottle sleeves we use to package some of our Vitaflo products, these materials have traditionally been less straightforward to recycle.

So, what can be done? Thankfully, help is at hand!

For the very first time recyclenow.com is making it as easy as possible to recycle these materials, with supermarkets across the country being incentivised to offer their stores as recycling points.

At Vitaflo, we want to build on these positive developments which is why we’re making this article your one-stop-shop to recycling this packaging.

Here's how it works...

STEP 1 - WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?

The following types of packaging can be recycled as part of the new scheme.

STEP 2 - WHERE CAN YOU TAKE IT?

The "RECYCLE ME" links above should take you straight through to the right section, but if not, head to www.recyclenow.com.

Enter the product description. For our pouches and sachets, type “Food and drinks pouches” and choose them from the list. For our bags, sleeves or wrappers, type “Plastic bags and wrapping”. Next, enter your post code and click the “Check” button.

The site will confirm that these items need to be recycled out of home. To find out where you can take them, click on the text which reads “Search nearby recycling points.”

A list of the closest supermarkets or recycling points will be returned, along with the address of each outlet. (Any chemists listed are for recycling cosmetics products, so it’s the supermarkets you need!).

STEP 3 - RECYCLE!

You're now ready to recycle!

Separate your Vitaflo packaging materials as you would do normally, putting anything you can recycle from your home into the relevant container.

For any pouches, sachets or bottle wraps, decide which supermarket or recycling point is best for you. This might be the closest, or it could be the one you use for the weekly shop. This is all about making it as easy as possible for YOU. Take them into the store and deposit them in the designated collection bins. If you can’t find it, just ask a member of staff to help.

AND IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT!

Repeat this process and let it become part of your daily or weekly recycling routine. The more you do it, the easier it will become!

NOT FORGETTING...

This scheme doesn’t just apply to the flexible plastic in our Vitaflo packaging.

We actively encourage you to start recycling ALL plastic bags wrapping and pouches in this way (if you’re not doing it already!).
