Feeding difficulties in children such as discomfort or a struggle in swallowing, recurrent efforts to vomit (retching/dry heaving) and heartburn can be very daunting for everyone. 1-4
When the difficulty is severe and the child is at risk of undernutrition, tube feeding may be required.
BLENDERISED FOOD CAN BE PART OF A CHILD’S TUBE FEEDING NUTRITIONAL PLAN
Tube feeding can help a child to thrive, as it provides all the nutrition that a child needs in a safe way. However, transitioning to tube feeding can be a very difficult experience. Some parents may wish to include food-derived ingredients in their child’s diet and may consider blenderising food or switching formula.
A pre-prepared formula containing some food-derived ingredients* could be considered. This offers a safe and hygienic option to include more so-called ‘real food’ in a child’s diet and is a practical solution for parents who are busy, wanting to go out or don’t have time to prepare homemade tube feeds.
At Nestlé Health Science we strive to provide all children with adapted nutritional solutions depending on their needs and condition.
